The Seattle Map was one of the most ambitious maps that I've ever drawn. It took 11 1/2 long months to complete the project, including ad selling time. My initial problem was finding someone who could sell the ads. I went through a few salespeople before I ended up driving to Seatte daily for 5 1/2 months to sell it myself. It remains the most popular of my "vintage maps". One reason people like our vintage maps is because they "freeze" the city in time. They can see what the city was like at that point in time. In this case, you get a glimpse of Seattle as it was in 1985. Notice the "Kingdome", and the PI Building when it was downtown instead of on the waterfront.
