Kent, Washington was the third large format map that I created back in my early map days. The largest city in south King County, Kent is one of the bedroom communities that serves Seattle. Kent began as an agricultural area, with hops as its first crop. The first hops were planted in 1878. Over the years Kent has become more of an industrial area and distribution center, because of its proximity to Seattle. The population of Kent was 24,000 when I drew this map in 1984. Today the population is 84,000 and growing. In case you're interested, it took 107 hours, or 28 days to complete the artwork for this map.
