The Mason County Adventure

I have found the tiny community of Union in south Hood Canal to be among the most scenic spots in Western Washington. The majestic Olympic Mountains beyond Hood Canal loom in the distance.

Just south of Union on Highway 106 the Skokomish River empties into Annas Bay. The best way to experience the tidelands of Annas Bay is by kayak. You can rent kayaks in Union at Kayak Hood Canal, 360-898-5925.

Are you tired of sleeping on the hard ground in a cramped tent in a noisy campground? Then Robin Hood Resort in Union has the perfect solution to your camping dilemma. Check out their luxury ”boutique” tent sites, complete with queen-size bed.

The crown jewel of south Hood Canal, Alderbrook Resort and Spa is the centerpiece of activity in the village of Union. Still relatively undiscovered, the South Shore area is the perfect locale for a secluded resort.

Another special spot in Western Washington is the Grapeview area. These pictures were all taken on the Grapeview Loop Road. Far from the rush of city life, Grapeview residents share the paradise with deer and other wild life.
